Rams vs. Underdog #1 Seed Cardinals: NFL Week 15 Thursday Picks

NFL Picks

Here are Will and Derek’s picks for the Week 15 Thursday night game. Picks for the remainder of the games will run on Friday.

(Home team in caps. Line per VegasInsider.com consensus.)

ST. LOUIS (-4.5) vs. Arizona

The Basics:

St. Louis: 6-7, 4th NFC West, #27 total offense, #17 scoring offense, #11 total defense, #14 scoring defense

Arizona: 10-3, 1st NFC West, #23 total offense, #22 scoring offense, #17 total defense, #3 scoring defense

Derek: Well, this is weird. The top seed in the NFC is a 4.5 point underdog to the last place team in its division.

And I agree! The Cardinals are fading fast and they haven’t been that good on the road anyway. They’re 3-3 on the road, both against the spread and straight up. And they ain’t getting any healthier. It seems like they have another crippling injury every week. They fought it for a while, but now it’s catching up to them.

The Rams also have to keep up their annual trend of being really good at the end of the year so everyone foolishly predicts them as sleepers the following year. It all adds up. The Rams cover.

Will: Hm, this is strange. Four and a half points? That seems like too many, but Arizona may be turning into a pumpkin before our eyes. Are the Rams that good? I might be able to name five Rams off the top of my head, and one of those is Sam Bradford.

All of the points you raise make sense, but I’m just not comfortable with Shaun Hill (Googles “Rams QB” just to make sure) — yeah, Shaun Hill — giving that many points. Also, the cardinal is Ohio’s state bird. Thus, I pick Arizona.
