Ravens vs. Steelers: Week 4 Thursday PicksPosted: October 1, 2015
Here are Will and Derek’s picks for the Week 4 Thursday night game. Picks for the remainder of the games will run on Friday.
(Home team in caps. Line per VegasInsider.com consensus.)
Baltimore (-3) vs. PITTSBURGH
Derek: The general consensus is the Steelers would be huge favorites if Ben Roethlisberger were playing. But he’s not, so the Ravens are favored. Yes, the 0-3 Ravens are favored traveling to Pittsburgh on Thursday night.
I’m tempted to say the Ravens will be dangerous because they have their backs against the wall and can’t start 0-4. But I seem to remember saying something similar last week before they lost at home to the Bengals despite Andy Dalton spotting them a touchdown and Steve Smith looking 10 years younger. Road teams are already at such a disadvantage on Thursday night, and the Steelers are probably more talented even without Roethlisberger. And I have to lay three points with Baltimore? No thanks. I’ll take Pittsburgh.
Will: I hate both of these teams long and good, but damn if I don’t love it when they square off and the road team is getting exactly three points. They aren’t the hard-hitting wars that they were in Ray Lewis’ and James Harrison’s heyday, but they’ve been roughly even teams for the past several years and they always seem to bring the goods on national TV.
As for this game…oooh-weee, I’m just not sure. The Ravens have sucked; the Steelers are starting Michael Vick. Steve Smith is amazing; so is Antonio Brown. Fuck Pittsburgh; also fuck Baltimore. WHO DO I CHOOSE?
I choose Michael Vick. The world is more fun when he’s showing out under the lights. I feel gross.
