Before we move on to the Week 4 games, let’s take a look at the results from Week 3:
It was my best week of the season, as I finished in the top 5,000 of nearly 70,000 contestants. Everyone scored in double digits, and there really wasn’t much drama heading into Monday Night Football. Despite huge games from Jamaal Charles and Aaron Rodgers, I was still comfortably in the winning half of the contest. That’s two weeks in a row, putting me in the black for the year.
On to Week 4! Here’s the team I’m rolling with this week:
QB – Derek Carr (OAK@CHI) – $7,000
Derek Carr is on a hot streak, and I don’t think the Bears are the ones to cool it. He has a high floor and a high ceiling this week.
Also considered: Aaron Rodgers ($9,200), Russell Wilson ($8,200), Matt Hasselbeck ($4,800)
RB – Latavius Murray (OAK@CHI) – $7,500
Yes, two Raiders in a row. Murray has been solid this year, and he’s not facing stiff competition this week. The Bears give up 4.7 yards per carry, which is 27th in the league. There’s also a good chance that the Raiders will be protecting a lead in the second half and Murray will get extra carries.
RB – Karlos Williams (NYG@BUF) – $6,300
Williams is a bargain this week with LeSean McCoy out. The Giants aren’t a great matchup, but the price was too good to pass up. Williams has a touchdown in each of his first three games.
Also considered – Eddie Lacy ($7,800), Devonta Freeman ($7,200), Thomas Rawls ($6,000)
WR – Julio Jones (HOU@ATL) – $9,400
Last week, Julio was my most expensive player, but was also the best value on my team from a points-per-dollar standpoint. His price went up $400 this week. That’s not enough to deter me.
WR – Randall Cobb (GB@SF) – $8,200
There’s a pretty good chance a Packers receiver goes off this week. Perhaps it will be Cobb.
WR – James Jones (GB@SF) – $6,000
There’s a pretty good chance a Packers receiver goes off this week. Perhaps it will be Jones. More than likely, it will be Ty Montgomery.
Also considered: Larry Fitzgerald ($7,400), Amari Cooper ($7,200), John Brown ($5,800)
TE – Martellus Bennett (OAK@CHI) – $5,500
The Raiders have gotten destroyed by tight ends. Even Gary Barnidge went off on them last week. With Alshon Jeffery out, I’m scared the Bears will sell out to stop Bennett, but he has a decent chance to be the highest scoring tight end in the league this week with Gronkowski on bye.
Also considered: Greg Olsen ($6,300), Kyle Rudolph ($5,000)
K – Steven Hauschka (DET@SEA) – $5,100
If I have to keep watching the Seahawks screw up in the red zone, at least I can take solace in the fact that Hauschka is helping me win money.
Also considered: Mason Crosby ($5,000)
D/ST – Arizona Cardinals (STL@ARI) – $5,000
After looking like a new man in Week 1 against the Seahawks, Nick Foles naturally fell off the face of the earth in two consecutive weeks. I’m terrified because this has the look of one of the weeks the Rams are good, but the Cardinals are a good bet to score a defensive touchdown. Besides, even if the good Rams show up, it will probably be a product of their defense. The Cardinal D has a high floor.
Also considered: Seattle Seahawks ($5,300), Denver Broncos ($4,700), Minnesota Vikings ($4,400)
TOTAL – $60,000
